Rabbi Tillman was born and grew up in Europe. Prior to becoming an American he resided in Canada and Israel. Rabbi Tillman has a degree in Economics as well as a graduate degree in Philosophy. He was ordained as a Rabbi in 1996 in Cincinnati.Rabbi Tillman has resided in the Chicago area since 1996. He has his own private rabbinical practice. Since the very first months of his career, Rabbi Tillman has focused on working with each family on a personal basis serving each individual’s unique spiritual needs as a teacher, a counselor, an officiant and a friendly guide. The private format allows him to transcend unnecessary boundaries and limitations in his interaction with people.
In addition to his primary occupation Rabbi Tillman is involved with Congregation Am Chai as its rabbi (since 2001) and with the Evercare Hospice as a chaplain (since 2011). Rabbi Tillman works privately with couples planning a destination, interfaith or Jewish wedding. He also works closely with students and their families preparing for bnei mitzvah, both local and at travel destinations of their choosing. Rabbi Tillman is highly regarded for his memorial and funeral eulogies as well as for his role as a rabbi for the Russian community.
